Insights on the microbial communities developed during the anaerobic fermentation of raw and pretreated microalgae biomass

Summary: Short-chain fatty acids are important building blocks for bioproducts production, and their bioconversion efficiency can be enhanced by thermal and enzymatic pretreatments on microalgae biomass. Proteins were found to be the limiting factor in the conversion of raw biomass into SCFAs. The microbial community dynamics and distribution were strongly influenced by the pretreatment methods, affecting SCFAs bioconversion yields.

Inhibition of norfloxacin on anaerobic digestion: Focusing on the recoverability and shifted microbial communities

Summary: Norfloxacin inhibits methane production in anaerobic digestion, but the performance and microbial community can recover when the inhibitor is removed. Inhibition of Candidatus_Cloacimonas, Petrimonas, Ercella, Sphaerochaeta and hydrogenotrophic methanogens by NOR is reversible, while inhibition of acetoclastic methanogen Methanosaeta is irreversible.
