Effect of Ni(NO3)2 Pretreatment on the Pyrolysis of Organsolv Lignin Derived from Corncob Residue

Wenli Wang et al.

Summary: The study focused on the impact of pretreatment and catalysis of Ni(NO3)(2) on the pyrolysis behavior of organsolv lignin, showing that pretreated samples had increased monophenol yield and promoted the selective formation of vinyl-monophenols. Bio-oil derived from Ni-pretreated lignin exhibited slightly increased higher heating value and significantly increased H-2 content in gas products compared to water-treated samples.

Impact of heating rates on the evolution of function groups of the biochar from lignin pyrolysis

Chao Li et al.

Summary: Higher heating rates during pyrolysis of lignin promoted gas formation while suppressing deoxygenation reactions, resulting in biochar with lower heating value and energy yield. Increasing pyrolysis temperature led to a monotonous increase in certain functionalities of biochar, but others, such as -OH, -CH3, and C=O, were not thermally stable.

Effect of MgCl2 solution pretreatment on pubescens conversion at room temperature

Yichen Liu et al.

Summary: Room temperature pretreatment of pubescens with soaking in MgCl2 aqueous solution at different concentrations resulted in higher conversion rates of hemicellulose and lignin with 20 wt% MgCl2 solution. MgCl2 pretreatment may change the dissolution conversion mechanism of pubescens and promote the breakage of ether linkage, leading to the formation of a new monophenol. Furthermore, GPC analysis revealed a decrease in larger compounds and an increase in smaller compounds compared to pure water pretreatment.
