Development of quinoline-based hybrid as inhibitor of methionine aminopeptidase 1 fromLeishmania donovani

Saleem Yousuf Bhat et al.

Summary: In this study, a series of quinoline-based hybrids were synthesized, leading to the discovery of a novel inhibitor molecule (QYT-4h) with high potency against the Leishmania donovani MetAP1 enzyme. The compound QYT-4h showed competitive inhibition against LdMetAP1 and high selectivity.

Methionine aminopeptidases with short sequence inserts within the catalytic domain are differentially inhibited: Structural and biochemical studies of three proteins from Vibrio spp.

Vijaykumar Pillalamarri et al.

Summary: Methionine aminopeptidases (MetAPs) are essential enzymes in all living cells and potential drug targets. Recent discovery shows that MetAPs with small inserts within the catalytic domain have different susceptibilities against inhibitors compared to those without inserts. New variants with inserts have been identified in pathogenic Vibrio species, suggesting potential selective inhibition targets.
