A novel boronic acid-based fluorescence turn on sensor for specific detection of adenosine in urine

Ran Wang et al.

Summary: Three simple fluorescence turn-on sensors based on a boronic acid receptor and a coumarin fluorophore have been designed for the selective detection of adenosine. When adenosine is present, the sensors exhibit a significant fluorescence enhancement. These sensors demonstrate good selectivity, fast response, and water solubility, with the NLC sensor showing promising results for adenosine detection in urine samples.

A Mitochondrial-Targeting Near-Infrared Fluorescent Probe for Revealing the Effects of Hydrogen Peroxide And Heavy Metal Ions on Viscosity

Aishan Zheng et al.

Summary: The study highlights the importance of mitochondrial viscosity in diseases, and introduces a newly designed fluorescent probe for real-time imaging and analysis. Results show that H2O2 can increase mitochondrial viscosity, while heavy metal ions decrease it, providing valuable insights into mitochondrial functions and related diseases.

A novel colorimetric and ratiometric pH sensor with a notably large Stokes shift for sensing extremely alkaline solution

Guiqian Fang et al.

Summary: A facile hemicyanine-naphthalene-based fluorescent sensor was constructed for colorimetric and ratiometric sensing of pH through a simple synthesis process. Sensor 3 exhibited high sensitivity to extremely alkaline solutions and had a notably large Stokes shift. The fluorescence intensity increased significantly in the pH range of 5.0–12.0, making it a promising tool for detecting extremely alkaline solutions.

Fluorescent Probe for Monitoring Hydrogen Peroxide in COX-2-Positive Cancer Cells

Jiyeong Lee et al.

Summary: Hydrogen peroxide is important in cellular functions and overproduction can lead to oxidative damage and diseases like cancer. The COX-2 enzyme plays a role in cancer development and resistance to treatment, so monitoring H2O2 changes in COX-2-expressing cancer cells is vital. A fluorescent probe composed of indomethacin and 1,8-naphthalimide boronate ester was able to image endogenous H2O2 in COX-2 overexpressing cancer cells.
