The role of glutamate transporter-1 in firing activity of locus coeruleus neurons and nociception in rats

Abdollah Nozad et al.

Summary: This study suggests that GLT1 could affect pain sensation by regulating synaptic transmission in LC, with ceftriaxone decreasing pain sensation latency and potentially serving as a therapeutic target for pain modulation in the future. The results highlight the importance of astrocytic glutamate transporter-1 in pain processing and further research may lead to new therapeutic approaches for pain management.

Vitamin D and rosuvastatin obliterate peripheral neuropathy in a type-2 diabetes model through modulating Notch1, Wnt-10α, TGF-β and NRF-1 crosstalk

Engie S. El-Sawaf et al.

Summary: Our study found that treatment with vitamin D and/or rosuvastatin can regenerate neuronal function and architecture, reduce neuronal inflammation and apoptosis. These treatments inhibit Notch1, Wnt-10 alpha, beta-catenin, and TGF-beta protein expressions, increase Smad-7 in the sciatic nerve, and enhance mitochondrial biogenesis and function.

Inosine as a Tool to Understand and Treat Central Nervous System Disorders: A Neglected Actor?

Francisney Pinto Nascimento et al.

Summary: Inosine, a naturally occurring purine nucleoside, has gained recognition in the central nervous system and is identified as a natural trigger of adenosine receptors. Research has highlighted its potential therapeutic effects in chronic pain, schizophrenia, epilepsy, depression, anxiety, as well as neural regeneration and neurodegenerative diseases.
