From Electronegativity towards Reactivity-Searching for a Measure of Atomic Reactivity

Summary: The concept of atomic reactivity is proposed and defined in relation to bond energies in this study, allowing for the distinction between reactive and inert atoms. Reactive atoms are characterized by degenerate ground states, while inert atoms have nondegenerate ground states. The strain energy of an atom, influenced by symmetry and conservation laws, strongly correlates with atomic reactivity measures.
