The renaissance of chemically generated bispecific antibodies

Peter Szijj et al.

Summary: Bispecific antibodies are a new class of biologics that target two different epitopes. While traditionally produced through protein engineering, recent advances in chemical methods have shown potential to compete with, and even surpass, protein engineering techniques by offering modularity, reproducibility, and ease of attaching additional cargo molecules. These innovative approaches have the potential to revolutionize the field by allowing for rapid generation of new formats and easy variation in antibody linker and construction.

Enabling In Vivo Photocatalytic Activation of Rapid Bioorthogonal Chemistry by Repurposing Silicon-Rhodamine Fluorophores as Cytocompatible Far-Red Photocatalysts

Chuanqi Wang et al.

Summary: Silicon-Rhodamine compounds (SiRs) have been identified as effective photocatalysts for inducing rapid bioorthogonal chemistry using 660 nm light, by oxidizing a dihydrotetrazine to a tetrazine in the presence of trans-cyclooctene dienophiles. SiRs, commonly used as fluorophores for bioimaging, have shown potential for catalyzing chemical reactions as well.

A new strategy to uncover fragile X proteomic biomarkers using the nascent proteome of peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs)

Olivier Dionne et al.

Summary: Fragile X syndrome is the most common inherited cause of intellectual disabilities and autism spectrum disorders, characterized by a wide range of behavioral, cognitive, and metabolic impairments with significant phenotypic heterogeneity among patients. Current tools for patient prognosis are lacking, leading researchers to identify potential proteomic biomarkers through analyzing the nascent proteome. This study suggests that the nascent proteome of PBMCs is a promising avenue for discovering biomarkers of FXS.
