The HITRAN2020 molecular spectroscopic database

I. E. Gordon et al.

Summary: The HITRAN database is a valuable compilation of molecular spectroscopic parameters used to predict and simulate light transmission and emission in gaseous media. The 2020 quadrennial edition of HITRAN incorporates recent experimental and theoretical data, with major updates to all five components for increased accuracy and coverage in atmospheric observations.

CO2-CO2 and CO2-Ar continua at millimeter wavelengths

T. A. Odintsova et al.

Summary: In this study, the broadband spectra of the continuum absorption in pure CO2 gas and its mixture with Ar were investigated using a resonator spectrometer operating within the frequency range of 105-240 GHz at room temperature. The pressure and frequency dependence as expected were observed, and the obtained data were validated by two independent calculations. A simplified formula was proposed to describe the frequency and temperature dependency of the CO2-Ar continuum for atmospheric studies, covering a wide frequency range from 60 GHz to 450 GHz at temperatures from 200 K to 400 K.

Redox Hysteresis of Super-Earth Exoplanets from Magma Ocean Circulation

Tim Lichtenberg

Summary: Internal redox reactions could irreversibly alter the mantle composition and volatile inventory of terrestrial and super-Earth exoplanets, affecting atmospheric observations. Turbulent diffusion in molten silicate mantles may kinetically entrain liquid iron droplets and limit the chemical equilibration between core, mantle, and atmosphere. Molten super-Earths may thus retain a compositional memory of their accretion path.

Simulation of collision-induced absorption spectra based on classical trajectories and ab initio potential and induced dipole surfaces. II. CO2-Ar rototranslational band including true dimer contribution

Daniil N. Chistikov et al.

Summary: This paper presents further development of the new semi-classical trajectory-based formalism described in a previous paper. By using ab initio intermolecular potential energy and induced dipole surfaces for CO2-Ar, the study reports simulation and analysis results of low-frequency collision-induced absorption, including the true dimer component. Trajectory-based simulation is extended to study the true bound dimer absorption, and the reliability of the simulated spectra is supported by good agreement with observations.
