Establishment and characterization of a continuous cell line from heart of Nile tilapia Oreochromis niloticus and its susceptibility to tilapia lake virus

Manoj Kumar Yadav et al.

Summary: In this study, a continuous cell line (OnH) derived from Oreochromis niloticus heart tissue was developed and utilized to investigate susceptibility to tilapia lake virus (TiLV). The OnH cells showed optimal growth conditions and high susceptibility to TiLV, making them valuable for viral isolation and genetic manipulation studies. The research contributes to understanding the replication mechanism of TiLV in this candidate species.

Cell Culture-Derived Tilapia Lake Virus-Inactivated Vaccine Containing Montanide Adjuvant Provides High Protection against Viral Challenge for Tilapia

Weiwei Zeng et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the immunological effects and protective efficacy of formaldehyde- and beta-propiolactone-inactivated vaccines against TiLV in tilapia, with and without the adjuvant Montanide IMS 1312 VG. Beta-propiolactone-inactivated vaccine showed higher protection efficacy against virus challenge compared to formaldehyde, generating specific IgM and neutralizing antibodies against TiLV. The vaccine also significantly lowered viral loads, increased survival rates, and stimulated a protective immune response, indicating potential for inhibiting viral proliferation.

Establishment of a rare minnow (Gobiocypris rams) disease model for grass carp reovirus genotype II

Jiaming Chen et al.

Summary: After being infected with GCRV-II, rare minnows exhibit symptoms such as hemorrhaging, tissue pathology changes, and increased expression of immune-related genes. Research suggests that rare minnow can serve as a disease model for GCRV-II, aiding in the study of pathogenesis and vaccine development.

Development and characterization of novel cell lines from kidney and eye of rainbow trout, Oncorhynchus mykiss for virological studies

S. Suryakodi et al.

Summary: Novel cell lines from rainbow trout eye, kidney, and spleen were successfully characterized and cryopreserved at different passage levels. These cell lines showed susceptibility to fish nodavirus and tilapia lake virus, while being resistant to Cyprinid herpesvirus 2. They were utilized for virus isolation from disease suspected fish samples, demonstrating their potential importance in virology research.

Marine Fish Primary Hepatocyte Isolation and Culture: New Insights to Enzymatic Dissociation Pancreatin Digestion

Neusa Figueiredo et al.

Summary: Primary hepatocyte cell cultures from marine fish were isolated using two methods: two-step collagenase perfusion and pancreatin digestion. The pancreatin digestion method showed higher cell viability and maintained cell function for five days, indicating its effectiveness as a cost-effective alternative for ecotoxicological studies involving marine pollutants.

Potency and efficacy of VP20-based vaccine against tilapia lake virus using different prime-boost vaccination regimens in tilapia

Weiwei Zeng et al.

Summary: The VP20-based vaccine can elicit both humoral and cellular immune responses and significantly protect fish against infectious challenge by Tilapia lake virus (TiLV). The DNA prime-protein boost immunization strategy showed the potential advantage over solo vaccination.
