Laser Scribing of Fluorinated Polyimide Films to Generate Microporous Structures for High-Performance Micro-supercapacitor Electrodes

Minsu Kim et al.

Summary: Nanostructured LIG patterned on fluorinated polyimides via a laser photothermal method exhibits a highly microporous structure, leading to a very large specific surface area and exceptional areal capacitance in H2SO4 aqueous electrolyte. The mechanically stable and flexible LIG-fPI-MSCs with an organic gel polymer electrolyte show very high power and energy densities, making them promising for high-performance MSCs in flexible microelectronics.

Laser-Induced Graphene from Paper for Mechanical Sensing

Summary: This study presents strain and bending sensors fabricated by irradiating regular filter paper with a CO2 laser, and systematically investigates the influence of different process parameters on the conversion of cellulose fibers into LIG. The material obtained exhibits porous electrically conductive weblike structures with sheet resistances as low as 32 Omega sq(-1). The functionality of both strain and bending sensors is demonstrated for different sensing configurations, highlighting the versatility and potential of this material for low-cost mechanical sensing applications.

Fluence-Dependent Morphological Transitions in Laser-Induced Graphene Electrodes on Polyimide Substrates for Flexible Devices

Moataz Abdulhafez et al.

Summary: Laser carbonization of polymers can create porous LINC patterns with controlled energy flux gradients, leading to different morphologies and properties. Anisotropic cellular networks show the best electrical conductivity, while aligned nanofibers are electrically insulating along their length. The fluence-dependent physicochemical processes underlying LINC formation can be precisely tuned for specific applications.
