Tunable charge transfer efficiency in HxMoO3@ZnIn2S4 hierarchical direct Z-scheme heterojunction toward efficient visible-light-driven hydrogen evolution

Fangshu Xing et al.

Summary: Hierarchical direct Z-scheme composites of ultrathin ZnIn2S4 nanosheets on HxMoO3 nanobelts exhibit significantly higher H-2-production activity than pristine ZnIn2S4. The high conductivity and tunable charge transfer efficiency of the HxMoO3 component contribute to the effective transport of charge carriers. The hierarchical architecture increases intimate interface for effective separation of electron-hole pairs and exposes more reactive sites.

Enhanced photocatalytic degradation of organic pollutants and hydrogen production by a visible light-responsive Bi2WO6/ZnIn2S4 heterojunction

Auttaphon Chachvalvutikul et al.

Summary: This study reports the photocatalytic applications of the direct Z-scheme Bi2WO6/ZnIn2S4 heterojunction in the degradation of organic pollutants and the production of H-2 gas. The photocatalyst showed high photoactivity and an enhancement in H-2 production, maintaining its efficacy even after multiple repeated cycles. The improved photo-efficacy of this heterojunction is attributed to the enhanced separation and transportation of photogenerated e(-)/h(+) through a direct Z-scheme system.

Dynamically-generated TiO2 active site on MXene Ti3C2: Boosting reactive desulfurization

Jing He et al.

Summary: Ti3C2 MXene with dynamically-generated TiO2 active site shows enhanced catalytic oxidative desulfurization performance, attributed to its abundant interface engineering and loosely layered structure. The expanded slit layer in Ti3C2 MXene provides more pores and cavities for accelerated mass transfer, leading to efficient removal of sulfides in diesel. Additionally, the dynamically-generated active sites from continuous activation of molecular oxygen and Ti3C2 MXene play a key role in enhancing the catalytic activity.
