Tensile Creep Behavior of Single-Crystal High-Entropy Superalloy at Intermediate Temperature

Takuma Saito et al.

Summary: The study found that the creep deformation mechanism of HESA at 760 degrees C and 520 MPa is independent of applied stress, with elongated gamma ' precipitates observed along the stress axis near the ruptured surface. Scanning electron microscope observation revealed multi-slip leading to lattice rotation in the superalloy.

Investigation on the thermal expansion behavior of FeCoNi and Fe30Co30Ni30Cr10-xMnx high entropy alloys

Chun-Lin Lin et al.

Summary: This study found that reducing the Cr and Mn content in the Co-Cr-Fe-Mn-Ni system can significantly decrease the thermal expansion coefficient of high entropy alloys, exhibiting similar thermal expansion behavior to that of Invar alloys; the abrupt change in thermal expansion behavior of high entropy alloys is associated with the transition from ferromagnetism to paramagnetism, and these alloys may exhibit the dimensional stability of the Invar effect.

Modeling the precipitation processes and the formation of hierarchical microstructures in a single crystal high entropy superalloy

Stephane Gorsse et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the formation process of hierarchical microstructure in high entropy superalloys (HESAs) by simulating the kinetics of gamma' and gamma precipitations during thermal treatments. The ability of the simulations to reproduce experimentally observed microstructure parameters was evaluated, and temperature time-transformation (TTT) diagrams were calculated to provide guidelines for further optimization of the hierarchical microstructure of HESAs.

Reversal of favorable microstructure under plastic ploughing vs. interfacial shear induced wear in aged Co1.5CrFeNi1.5Ti0.5 high-entropy alloy

Deepak Kumar et al.

Summary: The study reveals that peak-aged HEA exhibits the highest wear resistance in scratch tests dominated by plastic ploughing, but may show the lowest wear resistance in low load AFM experiments without plastic ploughing. By controlling the size and distribution of precipitates, the use of HEAs for sliding components can potentially be extended.

Beyond Solid Solution High-Entropy Alloys: Tailoring Magnetic Properties via Spinodal Decomposition

Ziyuan Rao et al.

Summary: The high-entropy alloy concept has evolved from stabilizing solid solutions to rendering them metastable through spinodal decomposition, in order to enhance magnetic properties. By adjusting the composition to form Fe-Co enriched regions, the magnetic properties of the decomposed alloy can be improved.
