Managing supply risk: Robust procurement strategy for capacity improvement

Yi Li et al.

Summary: This study examines the impact of a supplier with random capacity on a buyer's procurement strategy, introducing an ellipsoidal uncertainty set to represent uncertain parameters and characterizing the structure of the optimal robust procurement strategy using the worst-case criterion. Results indicate that the optimal robust wholesale price increases with the degree of parameter uncertainty. Additionally, the study establishes an upper bound for the impact of parameter uncertainty on the buyer's profitability, providing managerial guidelines for the design of robust procurement strategies in practice.

Economic benefit analysis of battery charging and swapping station for pure electric bus based on differential power purchase policy: a new power trading model

Caiqing Zhang et al.

Summary: This study compares the economic benefits of Battery Charging and Swapping Station (BCSS) under three different power purchase models and finds that the direct power trading model significantly increases the project's Net Present Value (NPV) and Internal Rate of Return (IRR), making up for the investment cost. Additionally, it reveals that the use of clean energy has better environmental benefits compared to coal power generation.

Robust optimal predictive control for real-time bus regulation strategy with passenger demand uncertainties in urban rapid transit

Qianqian Ma et al.

Summary: This paper proposed a nonlinear optimal control model with passenger demand and disturbance uncertainties for real-time bus regulation in urban rapid transit, aiming to improve the stability of bus headway, reduce passengers' waiting time, and enhance bus service level. A robust optimal predictive control algorithm and mixed integer convex quadratic programming method were applied to generate real-time optimal bus regulation strategy, achieving effective solutions for any value of uncertain parameters.
