Nano-engineering of Ru-based hierarchical porous nanoreactors for highly efficient pH-universal overall water splitting

Cheng-Bin Hong et al.

Summary: A facile methodology was reported for fabricating hierarchical porous nanostructures riveted with ultrafine Ru nanoclusters, serving as high-performance nanoreactors for overall water splitting. The nanoreactors exhibited remarkable performance for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) across a wide pH range, with an alkaline HER overpotential of only 25 mV@10 mA cm(-2) and an ultrahigh turnover frequency (TOF) value. Additionally, the nanoreactors showed prominent oxygen evolution reaction (OER) activity and were used to construct a two-electrode device for efficient overall water splitting with high H-2 generation rates in varied pH media.

Divergent Paths, Same Goal: A Pair-Electrosynthesis Tactic for Cost-Efficient and Exclusive Formate Production by Metal-Organic-Framework-Derived 2D Electrocatalysts

Changsheng Cao et al.

Summary: The study introduces a novel approach to simultaneously produce formate on both electrodes through a selective electrocatalytic method, achieving high efficiency and reduced energy input. The coupled reaction system based on MOF-derived catalysts demonstrates excellent performance in formate electrosynthesis, providing high current densities and nearly 100% selectivity on both the anode and cathode.

Bifunctional single-molecular heterojunction enables completely selective CO2-to-CO conversion integrated with oxidative 3D nano-polymerization

Dong-Dong Ma et al.

Summary: This study designs a bifunctional electrocatalyst for integrating CO2 reduction and anodic non-classical reaction, achieving efficient product generation. By anchoring a novel nickel phthalocyanine molecule onto carbon nanotubes at the single-molecule level, high CO2 conversion efficiency and stability are achieved. Furthermore, the development of an electrolytic system combining CO2 reduction with oxidative nano-polymerization is also highlighted.
