An evaluation on in-pile behaviors of SiCf/SiC cladding under normal and accident conditions with updated FROBA-ATF code

Ping Chen et al.

Summary: SiCf/SiC composite cladding as a next-generation cladding material shows potential as an accident tolerant fuel (ATF) cladding, but further evaluations of its in-pile behaviors are necessary. Through code updates and pellet optimization, the thermal performance of UO2-SiC was enhanced and failure risk was reduced.
