A Modular Fluorescent Probe for Viscosity and Polarity Sensing in DNA Hybrid Mesostructures

Summary: The study presents a modular fluorescent probe called StyPy with a large tunable Stokes shift and diverse applicability. Through thorough characterization, StyPy is demonstrated to report viscosity changes in DNA microspheres and characterize hydrophilic and hydrophobic regions in hybrid DNA-based mesostructures.

These molecular crystals with mechano-responsive properties have potential powerful applications, such as in wearable devices.
