Summary: The study describes the preparation of a series of well-defined, shelf-stable square planar aryl(tris(trifluoromethyWargentate(HI) complexes and their C(sp(2))-CF3 bond-forming reductive elimination. Mechanistic studies indicated that the C(sp(2))-CF3 bond-forming process occurred via a concerted reductive elimination pathway in these complexes.

This work challenges previous misconceptions about the catalytic capabilities of silver in cross-coupling reactions.
