Luminescent binuclear Zinc(II) organic framework as bifunctional water-stable chemosensor for efficient detection of antibiotics and Cr(VI) anions in water

Liming Fan et al.

Summary: By introducing the strategy of aromatic pi-electron mixed ligands, ultra stable LMOFs with predominant luminescent sensing performances have been achieved. The ternary LMOF {[Zn-2(HDDB)(bib)(1.5)]center dot 3H(2)O}n (1) features a 3D framework with high porosity and thermal and chemical stability. Furthermore, LMOF 1 shows excellent detectability for hexavalent chromates and nitroimidazoles/nitrofurans antibiotics in water.

A hydrolytically stable amino-functionalized Zinc(II) metal-organic framework containing nanocages for selective gas adsorption and luminescent sensing

Liming Fan et al.

Summary: The study introduced a novel nanocages-based 3D amino-functionalized MOF, ZnMOF, with exceptional thermal and chemical stabilities, which demonstrated remarkable adsorption selectivity for CO2/CH4 and highly sensitive detectability to Cr(VI) anions and nitroimidazole/nitrofuran antibiotics in water. This multifunctional material is efficient for gas adsorption and separation, as well as the detection of specific contaminants in water.

Stimuli -triggered fluoro-switching in metal-organic frameworks: applications and outlook

Ranadip Goswami et al.

Summary: Efficient sensor materials are crucial for monitoring ecological safety, human health, industrial waste control, and food quality. MOFs, as a new class of porous crystalline materials, have attracted attention in detection of hazardous pollutants due to their outstanding structure characteristics and tunable pore environment. Luminescence detection in MOFs is desirable for its easy handling and cost effectiveness, allowing for quick naked eye detection of physicochemical attribute changes of specific analytes.

Summary: The strategic construction of a chemically robust pillar-bilayer Cd(ii)-framework, CSMCRI-9, incorporating open metal sites and functional group assisted pore decoration, demonstrates remarkable potential for selective CO2 capture, catalytic valorisation, and acute detection of water contaminating organo-aromatics. The activated MOF (9a) displays reasonable CO2 affinity and exceptional CO2/N-2 selectivity, allowing for efficient solvent-free CO2 fixation with epoxides and versatile luminescent sensing of harmful nitro-organics.
