Synthesis of orange-emissive silicon nanoparticles as off-on fluorescence probe for sensitive and selective detection of L-methionine and copper

Summary: This study proposes a method for sensitive and selective detection of Cu2+ and L-Met using Si NPs as a fluorescent probe. The Si NPs emitting orange fluorescence were prepared via hydrothermal treatment and showed quenching with Cu2+ and turn-on response with L-Met. The approach is fast, simple, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly, with lower detection limits than the levels of Cu2+ and L-Met in drinking water and human urine samples.
