MoS2 Nanosheet-Modified NiO Layers on a Conducting Carbon Paper for Glucose Sensing

Prashant A. Borade et al.

Summary: The research demonstrates a disposable carbon-based paper electrode engineered to detect glucose in an alkaline medium at concentrations as low as 10 μM. The sensitive electrode is fabricated with nickel oxide and nanostructured molybdenum disulfide, showing high sensitivity in electrocatalytic activity. The catalytic enhancement is attributed to the reactive environment created by the MoS2 nanostructures, allowing for enzyme-free glucose sensing at low concentrations.

NiO-Coated CuCo2O4 Nanoneedle Arrays on Carbon Cloth for Nonenzymatic Glucose Sensing

Huan Wang et al.

Summary: Transition-metal oxide nanocomposites with a core-shell structure showed excellent catalytic performance due to their large surface area and synergetic effect. The CuCo2O4/NiO core-shell nanoneedle arrays exhibited outstanding electrocatalytic properties for glucose oxidation, making them suitable for glucose determination with high sensitivity and great selectivity and stability. The sensor also showed satisfactory recovery when applied to determine glucose in human serum samples, indicating its potential practical application in quantitative analysis of blood glucose levels.

Efficient electrocatalytic oxidation of water and glucose on dendritic-shaped multicomponent transition metals/spongy graphene composites

B. N. Khiarak et al.

Summary: A new type of hybrid nanomaterials based on leaf-like copper-based quaternary transition metals and spongy monolayer graphene is developed, showing improved catalysis in water oxidation and electrochemical sensing of glucose. The synergetic catalytic effect of the quaternary Cu-Ni-Fe-Co alloy with dendritic morphology and the highly conductive and spongy structure of the graphene monolayer contribute to the enhanced performance. The hybrid catalyst demonstrates superior efficiency and sensitivity compared to many noble-metal and non-precious metal electrocatalysts in water oxidation and electrochemical sensing applications.
