Summary: Donor hepatectomy and liver implantation time have an impact on the development of nonanastomotic biliary strictures (NAS) and early allograft dysfunction (EAD) after liver transplantation. Implantation time and anastomosis time are more significantly associated with EAD.

Summary: Donor organs are exposed to temperature changes during transplantation, and prolonged donor nephrectomy and implantation time are associated with delayed graft function after kidney transplantation. Similar detrimental associations have been demonstrated in liver transplantation. Further studies and standardized reporting in registries are recommended to protect grafts from ischemic injury.
