Large-scale farms in Zambia: Locational patterns and spillovers to smallholder agriculture

Jann Lay et al.

Summary: The study found that the establishment of large-scale farms has certain impacts on smallholders' land use and maize yields, but does not significantly affect the average farm size of smallholders. However, the crop portfolios of smallholders near recently established large-scale farms shift towards maize to the detriment of other staple crops.
