FLEXI: A high order discontinuous Galerkin framework for hyperbolic-parabolic conservation laws

Nico Krais et al.

Summary: High order schemes, especially discontinuous Galerkin schemes, have gained significant interest in the past decade for numerical solutions of multiscale problems in fluid dynamics. The FLEXI framework is an open-source simulation tool chain designed for solving the compressible Navier-Stokes equations on CPU clusters with HO consistency. By emphasizing on technical details, usability factors, and benefits of open-source development, the paper highlights the wide range of applications and expandability of FLEXI for the open-source community.

An efficient sliding mesh interface method for high-order discontinuous Galerkin schemes

Jakob Duerrwaechter et al.

Summary: This paper presents an efficient implementation of a sliding mesh method for computational fluid dynamics, applied to a large eddy simulation of a 1-1/2 stage turbine. The method is based on the mortar method with high-order accuracy, capable of handling various interface shapes and ensuring conservativity and free-stream preservation for plane interfaces. The emphasis is on efficient parallel implementation, with results showing the capability of the implementation strategy.
