Evaluating model-based strategies for in-season nitrogen management of maize using weather data fusion

Xinbing Wang et al.

Summary: The study developed a model-based in-season nitrogen recommendation strategy for maize using weather data fusion, which showed potential to increase nitrogen use efficiency compared with current farmer and regional optimal practices. The CERES-Maize model was proven to be a valuable tool for simulating yield responses to nitrogen under various conditions.

Assessing the uncertainty of maize yield without nitrogen fertilization

Adrian A. Correndo et al.

Summary: The study revealed that factors such as crop rotation, irrigation, soil organic matter, and weather variables play a significant role in predicting maize yield under zero N fertilizer conditions. Including weather variables in the analysis improved model efficiency and accuracy in predicting Y-0.

Attainable yield and soil texture as drivers of maize response to nitrogen: A synthesis analysis for Argentina

Adrian A. Correndo et al.

Summary: The most widely used fertilizer nitrogen recommendations for maize in Argentina are based on the relationship between grain yield and available nitrogen. This study found that combining factors related to crop demand and soil supply can improve fertilizer recommendations. Soil texture and yield environment were both found to impact nitrogen response, highlighting the importance of considering these factors for sustainable agriculture.

Does the critical N dilution curve for maize crop vary across genotype x environment x management scenarios? - a Bayesian analysis

Ignacio A. Ciampitti et al.

Summary: This study presents a global synthesis of maize data related to plant biomass and plant N concentration to fit critical N curves and test differences in curve parameters across varying GxExM combinations. Results show minor variations in curve parameters between different GxExM combinations, suggesting that changes in plant canopy architecture may impact the N dilution curve and warrant further evaluation. Refining the estimation of critical plant %N will improve the assessment of plant N status.

Soyoung Park et al.

Summary: This study analyzed and mapped the groundwater potential in Busan Metropolitan City, South Korea using random forest (RF), gradient boosting machine (GBM), and extreme gradient boosting (XGB) methods. The XGB model showed the highest prediction accuracy and best contributed to improving the accuracy of the groundwater potential maps, contributing to the establishment of a sustainable management plan for groundwater resources in the study area.
