Nonlinear vibration of multilayer shell-type structural elements with double curvature consisting of CNT patterned layers within different theories

M. Avey et al.

Summary: This article investigates the nonlinear vibration of moderately thick multilayer shell-type structural elements with double curvature consisting of carbon nanotube (CNT) patterned layers within different shell theories. The first order shear deformation theory is generalized on the motion for the first time, and frequency-amplitude relationship is obtained through Galerkin and semi-inverse perturbation methods applied to motion equations. The effects of transverse shear strains, volume fraction, sequence, and number of nanocomposite layers on nonlinear frequency are discussed in detail based on the obtained results.

Summary: This article studies the forced vibration of double-curved nanocomposite shells under a time dependent excitation by using nonlinear shell theory and the multi-scales method. The nonlinear partial differential equations are derived by generalizing the first order shear deformation shell theory to the heterogeneous nanocomposite shells. Applying the multi-scales method to nonlinear ordinary differential equation, a nonlinear frequency-amplitude dependence in primary resonance is obtained.

An approach to the solution of nonlinear forced vibration problem of structural systems reinforced with advanced materials in the presence of viscous damping

A. H. Sofiyev et al.

Summary: This study investigates the nonlinear forced vibration of composite structural systems with linear viscous damping using Hamilton principle and von Karman-type nonlinear theory to obtain theoretical models. By simplifying nonlinear partial differential equations to ordinary differential equations with Galerkin method, the frequency-amplitude relation and nonlinear forced vibration frequency of structural systems are obtained for the first time using the multiscale method. The expressions for nonlinear frequencies can also be used for other structural systems such as spherical and hyperbolicparaboloid shells, rectangular plate and cylindrical panel.

Summary: This article predicts the vibrational behavior of composite coupled conical-conical shell structures with Carbon NanoTube (CNT) fibers of Functionally Graded distributions. By utilizing Donnell's theory, Hamilton method, and five-parameter shell theory, the governing equations of motion are obtained and solved using an efficient Generalized Differential Quadrature Method (GDQM). The accuracy of the proposed formulation is verified through well-known benchmarks, numerical examples, and parametric studies, demonstrating high accuracy in analyzing the behavior of coupled shells.
