Exploring high pressure nebulization of Pluronic F127 hydrogels for intraperitoneal drug delivery

Helena Braet et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the potential of the thermosensitive hydrogel Pluronic F127 to be applied by high pressure nebulization, finding a delicate balance between controlled release properties and suitability for aerosolization. Denser hydrogels (20% and 25% w/v Pluronic F127) could sustain nanoparticle release up to 30 hours but cannot effectively be nebulized. As Pluronic F127 concentration and viscosity increased, aerosol droplet size also increased while aerosol cone angle exponentially decreased.

Assessment of bi-disperse solid particles mixing in a horizontal paddle mixer through experiments and DEM

Mohammadreza Ebrahimi et al.

Summary: This study investigated the mixing of bi-disperse particles in a horizontal paddle mixer using sampling experimental techniques and DEM, showing a significant influence of operating parameters on mixing quality, with r(n) having the most significant effect. The results suggest that diffusion mechanism is dominant over convection mechanism in achieving the best mixing performance.

Numerical study of the mixing process of binary-density particles in a bladed mixer

Zhijian Zuo et al.

Summary: DEM simulations were used to study the mixing performance of particles with different densities in a bladed mixer. It was found that the decrease in density ratio and filling level can improve mixing performance, while an increase in blade speed can also improve mixing performance.

DEM simulation for optimal design of powder mixing in a ribbon mixer

Yoshiharu Tsugeno et al.

Summary: A ribbon mixer is widely used in powder mixing in various engineering fields, but the complex structure makes it challenging to understand the mixing mechanism and optimize the design. Numerical technologies show promise in addressing these issues. Novel findings regarding the blade width for better mixing and the development of an approach for identifying convective mixing are presented in this study.

Study of kneading pressure and power consumption in a twin-blade planetary mixer for mixing highly viscous fluids

Jiecai Long et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the relationship between kneading pressure, power consumption, and planetary motion parameters of a twin-blade planetary mixer for mixing highly viscous fluids using CFD simulations. Results show that increasing speed and speed ratio can increase kneading pressure, while decreasing speed or increasing speed ratio can reduce power consumption.
