Simulation-guided construction of solar thermal coating with enhanced light absorption capacity for effective icephobicity

Meng Wang et al.

Summary: The finite difference time domain simulation revealed the enhancement of light absorption capacity by SiO2 nanospheres in a superhydrophobic layer, leading to the construction of a solar thermal coating for highly efficient icephobicity. Tests confirmed the simulation results, showing the potential of the coating in reducing ice adhesion strength and melting ice within a short time.
