14.55% efficiency PBDB-T ternary organic solar cells enabled by two alloy-forming acceptors featuring distinct structural orders

Hongtao Wang et al.

Summary: This study presents an efficient ternary strategy by incorporating two alloy-forming fused-ring electron acceptors (FREAs) with different structural orders into PBDB-T based devices, achieving highly efficient power conversion efficiencies. The two FREAs generate effective Förster resonance energy transfer, facilitating efficient exciton dissociation and charge carrier transport. The incorporation of a narrow bandgap FREA with low structural order optimizes blend morphology for reduced energy loss and significantly improves photovoltaic performance in ternary OSCs.
