The Performance of College Students on the Iowa Gambling Task: Differences Between Scoring Approaches

Wesley R. Barnhart et al.

Summary: The Iowa Gambling Task (IGT) is commonly used in clinical and research settings, but there are concerns about the validity of the task due to lower-than-expected performance among healthy adults. This study found that scoring approach impacts interpretation of performance patterns, with participants tending to select decks with lower loss frequency. However, overall participants underperformed compared to normative data, indicating the importance of scoring approach in determining impaired decision making in adults through the IGT.

Neural correlates of cue-induced changes in decision-making distinguish subjects with gambling disorder from healthy controls

Alexander Genauck et al.

Summary: The study examined neural activation patterns during a Pavlovian-to-instrumental transfer task to distinguish individuals with gambling disorder from healthy controls. Results showed that individuals with gambling disorder exhibited stronger neural signatures related to Pavlovian-to-instrumental transfer, indicating potential differences in neural processing between individuals with addictive disorders and healthy controls.

Dataset of whole-brain resting-state fMRI of 227 young and elderly adults acquired at 3T

Xia Li et al.

Summary: This study investigated the impact of adult age on brain functional connectivity using resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging data. The analysis focused on younger and elderly subgroups, deriving connectivity metrics to assess brain changes associated with adult age. The dataset may also serve as a reference for identifying abnormal changes in brain functional connectivity related to neurodegenerative or neuropsychiatric disorders.
