Plexcitonic Optical Chirality: Strong Exciton-Plasmon Coupling in Chiral J-Aggregate-Metal Nanoparticle Complexes

Summary: This study experimentally investigates the optical chirality of plexcitonic systems, made up of composite metal nanoparticles and chiral J-aggregates, in the strong coupling regime. Mode splitting and anticrossing behavior are observed in both the circular dichroism (CD) and extinction spectra of the hybrid nanosystems. The research provides insights into the modification of extinction and optical chirality in hybrid systems due to the formation of plexcitons, and proposes a criterion for strong plasmon-exciton interaction based on mode splitting in CD spectra.

Self-Assembly of Plasmonic Nanoantenna-Waveguide Structures for Subdiffractional Chiral Sensing

Gigantic vortical differential scattering as a monochromatic probe for multiscale chiral structures

Summary: This study demonstrates an orbital-angular-momentum-assisted approach to generate chiroptical signals with monochromatic light, achieving a gigantic vortical differential scattering on intrinsically chiral microstructures fabricated by femtosecond laser. The VDS measurements can robustly generate chiroptical properties on microstructures with varying geometric features and detect chiral molecules with high sensitivity. This approach paves the way for efficiently chiroptical discrimination of multiscale chiral structures with photonic orbital angular momentum, simplifying and complementing conventional CD spectroscopy for measuring weak optical chirality on mesoscale chiral architectures and macromolecules.

Chiral Systems Made from DNA

Chirality-selective transparency induced by lattice resonance in bilayer metasurfaces

Summary: The study reveals that optical chirality can be significantly increased by coupling between localized surface plasmon resonances and lattice resonances, even for metasurfaces made of achiral unit cells. Interlayer coupling generally destroys Wood's anomaly and transparency. By utilizing Pancharatnam-Berry phase and propagation phase, chirality-selective transparency can be achieved in a designed structure with a high absorption g-factor close to the upper limit of 2.

Dynamically adjustable-induced THz circular dichroism and biosensing application of symmetric silicon-graphene-metal composite nanostructures

Summary: The study investigates a composite nanostructure array composed of achiral silicon-nanorods on a metal-substrate and graphene-ribbons (ASMG). It was found that two strong ICD signals appear in the THz region, mainly due to surface plasmon resonances on the metal-substrate and localized surface plasmon resonances in the graphene nanostructures. The ICD signals can be dynamically adjusted by changing the Fermi levels of the graphene-ribbons, showing potential for use in designing dynamically adjustable THz chiral sensors.

Enhanced optical asymmetry in supramolecular chiroplasmonic assemblies with long-range order
