Directed Ligand Exchange on the Surface of PbS Nanocrystals: Implications for Incoherent Photon Conversion

Philippe B. Green et al.

Summary: This study investigates the distribution of ligands on the surface of nanocrystals using NMR and ligand displacement techniques, demonstrating that different ligands segregate in a regular pattern on the nanocrystal surface, providing an opportunity to enhance energy transport efficiency and control ligand morphology. The results suggest that leveraging ligand-ligand interactions and surface binding-site heterogeneity can be utilized to design functionalized particles with specific ligand morphologies.

Thermodynamic Implications and Time Evolution of the Interactions of Near-Infrared PbS Quantum Dots with Human Serum Albumin

Qian Wang et al.

Summary: The interaction between lead sulfide quantum dots and human serum albumin was studied, revealing a protein-protein association-like interaction characterized by thermodynamic parameters and fluorescence methods, following a proposed two-step model. Additionally, the study found that the secondary structure of HSA depended on the concentration of QDs and incubation time.

Ligand Adsorption Energy and the Postpurification Surface Chemistry of Colloidal Metal Chalcogenide Nanocrystals

Shalini Singh et al.

Summary: The study investigates the binding of a single ligand to CdSe and CdS nanocrystals, revealing that CdS nanocrystals bind more cadmium oleate and are more resistant to displacement by butylamine compared to CdSe. Density functional theory simulations predict a higher cadmium oleate displacement energy for CdS, which influences the displacement equilibrium constant for both types of nanocrystals after purification.
