Enhancing the Antitumor Effect of Doxorubicin with Photosensitive Metal-Organic Framework Nanoparticles against Breast Cancer

Qianqian Jiang et al.

Summary: Porphyrin-based metal-organic framework (MOF) materials can serve as carriers for chemotherapy and photosensitizers in photodynamic therapy. Loading doxorubicin hydrochloride (DOX) in porphyrin MOFs can prolong DOX residence time in tumor tissues and promote DOX endocytosis by tumor cells. Adjuvant treatment with photodynamic therapy can resensitize breast cancer tumors to DOX and enhance the chemotherapy effect synergistically.
