The experience of financial burden for people with multimorbidity: A systematic review of qualitative research

James Larkin et al.

Summary: This study synthesized 46 studies from six continents on the experience of financial burden for people with multimorbidity. The research found that people with multimorbidity face high healthcare costs, adopt coping strategies to manage these costs, and experience negative effects on their well-being as a result. The manageability and level of costs experienced are determined by health insurance and government supports.
