Positive Youth Development and Being Bullied in Early Adolescence: A Sociocultural Analysis of National Cohort Data

Summary: The study found that being bullied in early adolescence was most strongly predicted by having fewer close friends, higher family poverty, and living in neighborhoods with higher levels of disorder, while social disadvantage in schools did not impact being bullied. Females had a positive association with relationships with teachers, and family poverty and neighborhood disorder were negatively associated with positive social connections and caring in early adolescence.
