Andre Decoster et al.

Summary: During the first wave of the Covid-19 pandemic in Belgium, excess mortality was predominantly seen among those aged 65 and over, with a significant negative income gradient in excess mortality found among this group. While the income gradient in all-cause mortality was only marginally steeper during the peak of the health crisis, geographical location had a particularly strong effect on individual mortality during this period.
