Coaching techniques for sustained individual change during career transitions

Summary: This study explores the role of transition coaching in facilitating transformative individual learning during career transitions. Through analyzing interviews of 20 transitioning managers, it identifies five coaching techniques that are perceived to contribute significantly to this process: active experimentation, questioning, reflection, challenging views and assumptions, and using theories and frameworks. The findings suggest that transition coaching can play a key role in supporting individuals during career transitions, emphasizing the importance of reflection and experiential learning.
