Constraint generation for risk averse two-stage stochastic programs

R. Minguez et al.

Summary: Many practical stochastic optimization problems can be formulated as two-stage stochastic programs, and in situations where risk aversion is of interest, methods such as robust optimization or other risk-functional approaches can be used. This paper focuses on the latter case, particularly when there is a large number of scenarios, proposing a constraint generation algorithm for computational efficiency. The convergence of these algorithms is established and their effectiveness is demonstrated through various numerical experiments.

Robust optimization strategies for seller based on uncertainty sets in context of sequential auction

Gang Ma et al.

Summary: A study was conducted on the impact of different selling strategies for selling different goods in sequential auctions on price uncertainty and revenue uncertainty, and a robust optimization method was proposed to overcome price uncertainty, extending the traditional maximum revenue model into four robust models of different forms. Numerical examples showed that revenue decreases with higher levels of uncertainty, and not all cases result in revenue increasing with total auction sequence increase.

A consensus model to manage the non-cooperative behaviors of individuals in uncertain group decision making problems during the COVID-19 outbreak

Xiaofang Li et al.

Summary: The COVID-19 pandemic has caused significant economic losses globally, leading to numerous emergency decision-making issues. This study aims to propose a novel consensus model to address non-cooperative behaviors of experts in large-scale group decision making problems, with the goal of improving decision efficiency.

Minimum cost consensus modelling under various linear uncertain-constrained scenarios

Zaiwu Gong et al.

Summary: This paper explores the uncertainty theory in group decision-making, proposing a theory that combines deterministic and indeterministic aspects in group decision-making. By using belief degrees and uncertainty distributions to accommodate individual preferences, different scenarios of uncertain minimum cost consensus models are discussed from various perspectives. Theoretical conditions for achieving consensus and analytical formulas for minimum total cost are deduced, with applications in carbon quota negotiation demonstrating the extension of existing models. In essence, the traditional models' conclusions can be seen as specific cases of the uncertain minimum cost consensus models under varying belief degrees.

Consensus of large-scale group decision making in social network: the minimum cost model based on robust optimization

Yanling Lu et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a consensus model based on robust optimization, which classifies experts based on their social relationships and similarity of opinions, and designs a consensus index to measure the level of consensus among experts. A minimum cost model is then proposed to solve the consensus problem, followed by a detailed consensus feedback adjustment method.

A novel process to determine consensus thresholds and its application in probabilistic linguistic group decision-making

Hai Wang et al.

Summary: The paper presents a new process to support the determination of consensus thresholds using a random consensus index for inducing risk preference. A new group decision-making approach is introduced based on probabilistic linguistic preference relations, measuring consensus by the probability of acceptable consensus in a set of preference relations. The proposed approach is effective in cases of low consistency and consensus among experts, as demonstrated in a case study on departure audit in China.

Consensus Modeling with Asymmetric Cost Based on Data-Driven Robust Optimization

Shaojian Qu et al.

Summary: The paper explores robust optimization methods based on the asymmetric cost consensus model, introducing uncertain level parameters and different uncertainty sets to establish corresponding robust cost consensus models. Through sensitivity analysis of different models, it is found that the Interval-Polyhedron set's robust models have the smallest total costs and strongest robustness. Decision makers can minimize total costs by selecting uncertainty sets and levels according to their risk preferences.
