Staying safe: how young women who trade sex in Toronto navigate risk and harm reduction

Caterina Tess Kendrick et al.

Summary: The research explores the harm reduction practices employed by young women who trade sex, identifying various risks they face such as physical, social, and mental health risks, and the strategies they use to mitigate these risks. Young women involved in transactional relationships are actively negotiating and navigating harm reduction strategies in the face of deep systemic barriers. Further intervention may be necessary for them to implement these strategies effectively and access essential health and social support.
