The impact of heterogeneous environmental regulation on innovation of high-tech enterprises in China: mediating and interaction effect

Ziyuan Sun et al.

Summary: The study reveals that market-incentive environmental regulation and voluntary environmental regulation have a more significant incentive effect on enterprise innovation compared to command-controlled environmental regulation, with innovation input playing a crucial mediating role. Additionally, there is an interactive effect between command-controlled environmental regulation and other regulatory tools, while no interactive effect is found between market-incentive environmental regulation and voluntary environmental regulation. This suggests that a combination of control-based regulatory tools and flexible regulatory tools can have a complementary effect on promoting enterprise innovation.
