Designing nudges for the context: Golden coin decals nudge workplace behavior in China

Sherry Jueyu Wu et al.

Summary: A field experiment in a Chinese workplace demonstrated the importance of understanding the motivational structure and subjective interpretations of behaviors when designing nudges. The use of coin decals as a nudge effectively reduced waste on the production floor, but the effectiveness declined when the coins were removed and re-implemented without justification.
