Touchless classes and absent bodies: teaching physical education in times of Covid-19

Valeria Varea et al.

Summary: This paper discusses how physical education practices have become 'touchless' and bodies absent during the pandemic, using theoretical concepts of risk and assemblage. Pre-service PE teachers who switched to online mode experienced a mix of emotions, missed physical contact with students, and believed that the subject of PE is losing its identity. This study reveals a shift in how bodies are being constituted as assemblages and the potential consequences of missing out on important aspects of practicum experiences due to lack of direct contact with students.

Summary: The present study examines the impact of COVID-19 work-related stress on healthcare professionals' burnout, and the role of personal resources and relational factors in mitigating this impact. Employee psychological well-being during the COVID-19 pandemic in Germany: A longitudinal study of demands, resources, and exhaustion

Bertolt Meyer et al.

Summary: Based on theories from occupational health, the duration of the pandemic, its demands, and personal and job-related resources interact in their effect on employee exhaustion. The study reveals a curvilinear effect of pandemic duration on working women's exhaustion, with the introduction and easing of lockdown measures also playing a role. Job autonomy and partner support help mitigate some of the effects, highlighting the importance of targeted interventions for women's psychological health during the COVID-19 pandemic.
