Authenticity and rumination mediate the relationship between loneliness and well-being

Dominik Borawski

Summary: The study confirmed the detrimental effects of loneliness on well-being and identified authenticity and rumination as mediators in this relationship. Authenticity was found to be a significant mediator between loneliness and meaning, while rumination played a key role between loneliness and pleasure. Both mediators contributed to the indirect effects of loneliness on engagement and overall well-being, with the relations between loneliness and authenticity aligning with recent conceptualizations emphasizing the interpersonal sources of authenticity.
