Knowledge co-creation: The role of tourism consultants

Lisa Ruhanen et al.

Summary: There is evidence of consultants in the field of development aid transitioning from unidirectional knowledge transfer approaches to more interactive methods based on co-creation. However, there is limited discussion in the tourism literature about this shift and its impact on tourism for development in practice. Most consultants still act as expert disseminators of knowledge, with co-creation approaches being less common in consultancy practices.
