The stories that make us: Leaders' origin stories and temporal identity work

Summary: The study reveals that leaders tend to narrate their understanding and enactment of leadership around the four frames of being, engaging, performing, and accepting. It also uncovers significant gender differences in the use of these frames, with men more often using the performing frame and women leaning towards the engaging frame.
