Childhood Maltreatment and Eating Disorders: A Prospective Investigation

Summary: This longitudinal study found that childhood maltreatment was not a significant risk factor for the diagnoses or symptoms of anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa in adulthood, but adults who reported experiencing any form of maltreatment, particularly physical and sexual abuse, exhibited more symptoms of anorexia nervosa.
