Processing visual information in elite junior soccer players: Effects of chronological age and training experience on visual perception, attention, and decision making

Stefanie Klatt et al.

Summary: The study investigated the effects of age and training experience on perception, attention, and decision-making in young soccer players. It found that performance decreased in decision-making and feature-recognition tasks with increasing use of peripheral visual field, but not in the object-detection task. Players under 18 years old showed superior attentional skills compared to those under 16 years old, and higher training experience affected decision-making and attentional performance.

Individual differences in performance and learning of visual anticipation in expert field hockey goalkeepers

Khaya Morris-Binelli et al.

Summary: This study investigated the impact of a penalty corner drag-flick temporal occlusion task on Australian male field-hockey goalkeepers through two experiments. It found that some goalkeepers were able to accurately anticipate by integrating information, and those who received intervention training showed personalized improvement in anticipation, with the effects lasting for a significant period of time.

Attentional and Perceptual Capabilities Are Affected by High Physical Load in a Simulated Soccer Decision-Making Task

Stefanie Klatt et al.

Summary: The study found that high physical load has a greater impact on attention and perceptual capabilities than moderate load, with decision-making performance showing no significant difference between the two conditions. As visual angles increase, decision-making performance decreases, while perceptual capabilities deteriorate more significantly under high load conditions.

Gaze Coordination of Groups in Dynamic Events - A Tool to Facilitate Analyses of Simultaneous Gazes Within a Team

Frowin Fasold et al.

Summary: The performance and success of a team working towards a common goal depend on the skills of individuals and the collective coordination of their abilities. While individual gaze behavior has been well studied, the coordination of visual skills within a team has only been explored in laboratory settings, neglecting practical applications in real-world scenarios. Developing a method to analyze the coordinated gaze behavior of a team in dynamic events outside the lab, this study focuses on a three-person basketball referee team to investigate interaction patterns and behavior in group settings.
