Unravelling intercalation-regulated nanoconfinement for durably ultrafast sieving graphene oxide membranes

Jing Guo et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the impact of molecular intercalation on the structure of graphene oxide membranes, revealing significant effects of different-sized intercalants on stacking. By intercalating with optimal-sized molecules, a nanostructured GO membrane with superior robustness and ultrafast water permeance is achieved.

Removal of phenolic contaminants from water by pervaporation

Xiaotong Cao et al.

Summary: This study focused on the separation of phenolic compounds using a PEBA membrane, showing that permeation flux increased with higher feed concentrations, but the increase was less than proportional, leading to a decrease in enrichment factor. Additionally, both permeation flux and enrichment factor increased with higher temperatures. Different phenolic compounds exhibited varying permeabilities in the membrane.

Influence of water, H2O2, H2SO4, and NaOH filtration on the surface characteristics of a graphene oxide-iron (GO-Fe) membrane

Chih-Hsien Lin et al.

Summary: Filtration using different solutions led to varying impacts on the surface characteristics and permeation fluxes of GO-Fe membranes. Water and H2SO4 filtration demonstrated the highest and lowest fluxes, respectively, with water increasing membrane hydration and flux while H2SO4 led to membrane destruction by enhancing Fe release.

A novel approach to Chromium rejection from sewage wastewater by pervaporation

Fatma Kursun Baysak

Summary: In this study, Cr/water mixtures containing Cr (III) and Cr (VI) were successfully separated by pervaporation using polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and sodium Y (NaY) zeolite membranes. The NaY membrane showed selective permeability for Cr (VI). The results indicated that factors such as zeolite percentage, membrane thickness, Cr concentration, pH, and temperature all influenced rejection and flux.
