The influence of wet feed distribution on the density, growth rate and growth variability of Tenebrio molitor

D. Deruytter et al.

Summary: The distribution of wet feed (substituted by agar) plays a major role in the distribution and growth of mealworm larvae. When the wet feed is more than 5 to 10 cm away from the larvae, there is a decrease in both larvae numbers and growth rate. Therefore, it is recommended to place the wet feed within 5 cm from the larvae to ensure equal growth and distribution of all larvae sizes.
