Smoking, occupational exposures, and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis among Swedish construction workers

Martin Andersson et al.

Summary: Cigarette smoking and occupational exposures are associated with an increased risk of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), with heavy current smokers exposed to inorganic dusts showing the highest risk. This study highlights a clear dose-response relationship between smoking and IPF, supporting a causal relationship.

Development of a Job-Exposure Matrix for Ultrafine Particle Exposure: The MatPUF JEM

Sabyne Audignon-Durand et al.

Summary: This study aimed to develop a job-exposure matrix dedicated to UFPs by assessing the association between fifty-seven work processes and the emitted UFPs. Results showed that 52.8% of the assessed occupational codes were associated with UFP exposure, with 42.6% involving very probable exposure and at a high frequency.
