Exploration of a novel depressant polyepoxysuccinic acid for the flotation separation of pentlandite from lizardite slimes

Cheng Liu et al.

Summary: In this study, a biodegradable polyepoxysuccinic acid (PESA) was introduced as a novel depressant to improve the separation efficiency of pentlandite from lizardite slimes in flotation. The addition of PESA altered the surface charge of lizardite from positive to negative, enabling better dispersion between pentlandite and lizardite particles and enhancing the adsorption of collector on pentlandite surface. XPS analysis demonstrated that PESA effectively interacted with Mg sites on lizardite surface, showing its potential as an effective depressant for removing lizardite slimes from pentlandite surface in flotation system.

Mathematical model of liquid spontaneous imbibition into gas-saturated porous media with dynamic contact angle and gravity

Fuyong Wang et al.

Summary: Liquid imbibition with dynamic contact angle in porous media is a common phenomenon, and its analysis poses challenges. A mathematical model is developed to explore the impact of dynamic contact angle on imbibition velocity, showing a nonlinear correlation between imbibition velocity and imbibition time.

Adsorption configuration of dodecylamine at gas-liquid interface and its relationship with foam stability: MD simulation and ToF-SIMS investigation

Ximei Luo et al.

Summary: This study investigated the adsorption configuration of DDA at the gas-liquid interface and its relationship with foam stability under different conditions. It was found that DDA exhibited extremely high foam stability under strong acidic conditions, reaching its peak at the critical micelle concentration. The key factors affecting DDA foam stability at different pH levels were the interaction intensity between head groups of DDA and water molecules, while at different concentrations, factors included adsorption capacity, interaction intensity, and molecular configuration at the gas-liquid interface.

An in situ ATR-FTIR study of mixed collectors BHA/DDA adsorption in ilmenite-titanaugite flotation system

Liping Luo et al.

Summary: This study investigated the enhanced flotation separation performance of ilmenite and titanaugite using a mixed collector BHA/DDA, finding successful separation at a specific molar ratio. Experimental results indicated that in the mixed collector system, BHA adsorbed on mineral surfaces through chemical adsorption, while DDA adsorbed through electrostatic adsorption, forming a stable complex on the ilmenite surface but an unstable one on the titanaugite surface.

Shiyong Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, a new hydroxamic-acid molecule, sebacoyl hydroxamic acid (SHA), was synthesized and used as a collector for wolframite flotation. The results showed that SHA collector achieved higher wolframite recovery at a lower dosage compared to the traditional collector, and it also eliminated the need for lead ions during the flotation process.

Recent advances and perspectives on vanadium- and manganese-based cathode materials for aqueous zinc ion batteries

Na Liu et al.

Summary: The growing demand for energy storage has prompted researchers to explore advanced batteries, with aqueous zinc ion batteries (ZIBs) emerging as a promising option. While rechargeable ZIBs offer high safety, low cost, environmental friendliness, and competitive performance, the development of suitable zinc ion intercalation-type cathode materials remains a challenge. Vanadium-based and manganese-based compounds are the most advanced and widely used rechargeable ZIBs electrodes.
